Towards Balance

Although many years old, I still consider ”Towards Balance” one of my most important works. It constitutes a summing up until that time of my explorations of sound strata and chords built on tones from the harmonic overtone series. There is both overlapping and moving in and out of these sound strata. In addition, a melodic element plays a rather prominent part, especially towards the end.
The overall form of the composition develops from a culmination of tension, density of texture and dynamics early in the piece towards a simplification and calming down. (cf. the title.)
