Dedicated to composer and cellist Émilie Girard-Charest, Parlando ma troppo underlines a mutual commitment to new music that binds our friendship since our years studying together in Montreal. With a touch of humour, the title refers to certain types of interpretation indications, most of the time in Italian, that we can find in scores; parlando (speaking) is used when the instrumentist as to imitate the voice, while ma troppo diverts the often used « ma non-troppo», an invitation to moderation that is in this piece subverted. is new interpretation indications, serving as a title, evokes the loquacious character of the musical material. This musical talkativeness is kindly addressed to the virtuosity and commitment of Girard-Charest.
