Tunnel

The structure of the piece is based on certain velocity phenomena, that can be observed when driving through landscapes that are wide and interspersed with tunnels. Whereas the elongated horizon seems to pass and change rather slowly before ones eyes, even when driving at a high speed, the perception changes suddenly and violently, when entering a tunnel. The view is abruptly walled up by walls “flashing past”, artificial lights generate fast mono-rhythmical changes between light and dark, whereas the focus is necessarily directed forwards. When leaving the tunnel, one is blinded by the natural light, but also free to contemplate the landscape that has slightly changed during ones absence.
