Drone

This piece was indirectly inspired by Eastern sound of drone tone such as Tibetan chant, Japanese Gagaku, Thai Khaen music, a traditional music from north eastern part of Thailand, etc. An Idea of “Drone” has been transformed extensively by expand the notion of holding only note for long time as in the traditional way to holding motif, texture, groups of note for certain duration in the similar way of drone. Heterophonic transformation as in Thai traditional music is one of the most concerned idea as well as abrupt tonal shifting technique, extended pentatonic, polymode and some special instrumental techniques together.This makes the composition an output of a cultural fusion.
