Retour

"Retour" is a mosaic of four little pieces that are to be played continuously, one after the other, with no interruption at all. Piece No.2 alternates with pieces 1, 3, and 4 creating a Rondo-like form. The instrumentation is flexible: 2 winds, 1 brass or voice, 1 percussionist, 1 piano, and 2 bowed strings. However, it can also be performed with fewer than seven instruments but a minimum of 4: piano, percussionist plus 1 wind and 1 string.

This piece needs no individual parts. Performers play directly from the score.
