Notes on this piece One of the main ideas of the piece was an attempt of convergence of two very different instruments: piano is almost a "percussive" instrument, so here non-traditional methods of play are used, allowing to create stretching sounds on the piano that is more typical for the accordion. In addition one of the main ways of playing are multidirectional glissando (mostly up on the pieano and down on the accordion) - it is the analogy with Phobos and Deimos: both are satellites of Mars and have many features in common. But the interesting thing is that one satellite is gradually approaching to Mars and the other is moving away (this idea was embodied in the use of glissando as one of the main types material). However, the name is treated here in two ways : Phobos and Deimos are translated from Latin as "fear" and "terror". It was interesting to discover these two words in the same sequence in one of the cantatas by J. S. Bach, so the author has decided to use the music of the cantata (BWV70) as a material for the series, on which based the pitch development. Thus, there are two types of organization of the material: the pitch and the sonorous. The piece is based on the elaboration and interaction of these two complexes.
