Recorded by the Van Kujik Quartet at BBC Maida Vale Studios and first broadcast on 7 November 2016.
The title is a quotation from Rebecca Elson's poem Let There Always Be Light (Searching for Dark Matter).
The piece was later incorporated into the composer's Clarinet Quintet, At Night as the second movement
