La sonrisa de una lágrima (2014) is a piece for alto Recorder and electroacoustic to 2 channels (stereo). The work is inspired on the Joan Miró painting, which bears the same name. There is the idea of opposites that attract each other an oxymoronic relationship between materials, such as is expressed in the Miró painting, to generate the musical drama. Also, certain materials are directly linked to the gesture of the "smile" (as the staccato), and others to the crying or "tear" (as long notes played with glissando).
The tonal sounds (which predominate in the first section) coexist with the noise (predominant in the middle section). The last section gives a new meaning to the sound objects from the beginning.
The piece was awarded with the 2nd Price in the International Competition Destellos Foundation 2015 (Argentina-France-Belgium-Spain).
