The piece was composed after a re-reading of “The Circular Ruins”, a tale included in the short stories collection “Fictions” by J. L. Borges.
The musical form and the instrument-electronics relations are inspired by some topics of the text, especially for a certain circular time conception and a questioning of the reality status. Indeed, into the story, an artist dream of a man to whom he gives the life, but he finishes by understanding that he also was an appearance and the dream by someone else.
The confusion between illusion and reality, the idea of the life as a daydream, the artistic vertigo, a state of uncertainty, the imaginary of the mirror effects and the mise en abyme, … are some of the guidelines in the writing of the instrumental and electronics parts. There are some sound objects becoming abstract entities, distorted, filtered, different mixed elements constituting sound textures or a kind of dialog between the instrumental and electronic worlds…
