STATO ESOTERICO II offers an exploration of the intricate interplay between sound and environment. The palette of the work draws inspiration from underwater soundscapes, focusing, in particular, on the ambient layer that comprises of delicate, vulnerable, and fragile sonic matter.
Instrumentalists and electronics join their forces to replicate such acoustic phenomena in an ever-slowing narrative that seeks to manipulate the perception of time and create an immersive experience akin to traversing an alternate dimension.
Delicately weaving together a tapestry of thin, quiet sonic textures, the work invites listeners to lean in and engage in more attentive listening. Creating a space for contemplation and reflection, the boundaries between art and nature blur, and the unheard elements that live in the depths are unveiled.
The work utilizes and materializes research I conducted in the context of my appointment at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in San Diego, where I engaged in the analysis of acoustic data collected from various recording deployment sites in the Arctic Ocean.
