Constelación

“Constelación” came to me as a challenge: to write for Cristina Dulanto a new work for cello solo. I have worked with her trying many different techniques and also experimenting with the amplification. The result is a piece very much based on timbre explorations and that takes out the more intimate and soft sounds of the cello thru the amplification. From this palette of soft and rich timbres comes the name of the work. It is written over two basic ideas: the tapping heard at the beginning and the “harmonics” section. From the intercalation of these sections comes the tension and development of this short piece. It was written between November and December 2009 and is dedicated to Cristina Dulanto.
