With Partota 1, 1983-85, I started my series of works for keys. This work is deeply influenced by broad
discussions within the Ligeti composition class at that time around Jazz, African music, Medieval music,
Nancarrow, also romantic or post-romantic piano music. Partota 1 is a paraphrase on a (hypothetic) folkmusic of
a (hypothetic) island outside the Mediterranean Sea, named "Arkensi
