IMBROGLIO, for marimba, was commissioned by the Mexican Center for Music and Sonic Arts (CMMAS) in Morelia, Michoacán, to be performed by marimbist Yuko Yoshikwa. The piece portrays and musically describes a tangled atmosphere through the knitting of different textures in the marimba. These textures also involve the use of different combinations of registers to create an intricate mass of sonorities, generating unity through a recurring theme that is present either complete or in small fragments throughout the piece.
